Art installation pays homage to our past and future
Whenever children and youth visited our main branch in Nelsonville over the spring and summer, they were invited to add their own flair to Nelsonville Block coloring sheets. Today, a newly installed wall mural showcases their work. Recognizing one of the area's world-famous historic manufacturers, this installation also reminds library visitors of the community-building and inspiration that have stayed vibrant in Athens county (and in our libraries!) during the pandemic.

Thanks to Nelsonville youth services librarian Lia
and branch manager Abie for this wonderful idea--
and to Heather, ACPL's graphic designer,
for making it a reality.

December program highlights
Tonight! Friday, December 3 from 4-6pm
at the Wells Public Library in Albany

Join us for a historical wagon tour, hot chocolate, and popcorn refreshments! Wagon rides with John Hutchison and his Percheron work horses will depart from the front porch of the library.

Wednesday, December 8 from 6-8pm
at the Athens Public Library

Equal parts travelogue and cookbook, Katie Quinn's new book is a captivating adventure into the world of all things fermentable. Katie--who grew up in the Athens area and now lives in southern Italy--will join Tom Hodson (WOUB Public Media) in a conversation about her life, her career, and the journeys that culminated in her latest work. A reception and book signing will follow with light refreshments and copies of Katie's book for sale.
*Face and nose masking required to attend.

Library resource update: Ancestry.com
Ancestry will end free remote access for library users December 31.

What does this mean? You'll need to be in a library building to access Ancestry
after this date. Remote access to HeritageQuest (powered by Ancestry) will still be offered and remains the best option for library users doing genealogy research from home. Lorinda, our local history librarian, also highly recommends the free resource www.familysearch.org.
