*Look for June and July event calendars at your local branch,
As
you visit our locations this summer, you might see a few newly
installed rain barrels, thanks to our amazing facilities crew!
At our Glouster branch, children's librarian Sarah worked with the Trimble Art Club and art teacher Cali Sanker to decorate theirs. "The water will help our sweet peas grow," librarian Sarah shared, "which Erica, our COMCorps Wellness Access Facilitator, has been harvesting for the library's donation station."
The
barrel will also water a newly completed pollinator garden,
donated by Rural Action Americorps member Mia, as well as
flowers donated by Gabriel's Greenhouse and Farm.
"We hope having the rain barrel will help raise awareness (and spirits) of the importance of sustainable gardening practices, community art, and partnerships big and small," Sarah added. "It can also encourage conversations about supporting native plants and pollinators, and can help us in creating a 'land lab' for classroom field trips and research opportunities."
Our bookmobile will be at the following sites this summer.
Check out/return items, get a library card, & more:
and stay tuned every Friday in June for online Storytimes that
celebrate LGBTQ+ identities, read by members of our LGBTQ+
community here in Athens County.
*Videos
will be available for a limited time on ACPL's Facebook page and
YouTube channel and will feature books in our collection.
Always wanted to join a book club but couldn't?
Do you want to read but can't find the time?
The
Silent Reading Book Club is for those of us wanting to finally
tackle our bedside reading pile, or who require time/accountability
devoted to reading--or are just looking for a new book club experience!
Every
month, we'll meet virtually to silently read whatever we're currently
working on, then open the floor to discuss what we're reading
if we want to. Bring physical books, eBooks, audiobooks, or even
newspapers and magazines! The SRBC is open to readers of all ages, and you can contribute as much or as little as you'd like.
Hosted by librarian Austin from our Athens branch. Meetings will take place on Zoom; please register ahead of time to receive an invite link the day of the meeting.
Lynda.com has a new name and even more video tutorials!
